My House is Giving Me The Stink-Eye...

During the past six weeks when I was focusing all of my decorating attention on my daughter's room, the many partially finished rooms around my house kept giving me the stink-eye every time I walked by. They're all wondering why I keep jumping into new projects when I should be finishing off the ones I started. I'm pretty sure that my husband's wondering the same thing.

So while I'd really like to jump into into remodeling our mess of a bedroom, powder room, or family room, I'm going to spend a few weeks trying to knock out some of the things on the to-do lists for the rooms I've already started. Like the living room, where for one, I need a good pair of lamps to go on the side tables (HomeGoods finds) that flank the sofa:
I'm thinking of going with two of the large black Double Gourd Lamp Bases from Target but have yet to commit...

And I need to get back to picking out new tile for the fireplace surround. I keep going back and forth about doing something simple like one of these inexpensive marble tiles vs. picking something uniquely "me".
Since we don't know how long we'll be living in this house, I'm always trying to find the best balance between something that I love and reflects my style vs. what would appeal to the most buyers if we were to have to resell. It's hard.

There are two big furniture refinishing projects in the living room that I'm anxious to jump into doing - one is the furniture piece that I snagged from HomeGoods last week that's going to get a black and gold makeover. The other is this simple small round table that's in the corner of our living room:
The top of the table is all scratched up courtesy of our old dog who would put her front paws up on it to better see out the window of our old house:
I'm going to sand it down and then restain it rather than painting it because I'd like to have some more wood tones in the room.

In my kitchen, there are still several projects left to do, including getting some art up on the walls in the eat-in area and adding some pillows to the small upholstered settee that sits at the far end of the kitchen by the fireplace. This little settee sees a lot of action throughout the day - on school days my girls like to pull up a little side table and have breakfast here in the morning and snack when they come home. And on weekends, it's a great little place to sit with a cup of coffee. But it would be even greater with a few comfy pillows...

In the dining room, I'm going to be adding some color and texture to the back of the built-in china cabinet. I've had everything ready and waiting to go for weeks - just need to get to it!

And of course there's the office - a space that I had planned to be done with long ago. Once the room was painted and we moved the furniture back in, the chunky natural fiber rug that was there before (when we were using the space as our family room) was too thick for moving chairs back and forth. So the old rug is going into our bedroom and after a long hunt, I finally found a new, thinner one at a good price - it's Pottery Barn's Owen Herringbone Jute Rug
We're going to get the new rug and rug pad laid out this week and hopefully the room will quickly take shape from there.

And while I got enough done with my daughter's room for My One Room Challenge reveal, we've still got a few things to finish up, including a fun little project with all of these colorful purses that we've been collecting:

And finally, do you remember my girls' craft room that was the first mini-makeover I did in our new house?
I removed the small door to the craft room because it hit the room's slanted ceiling every time it was opened and in place of it, I'm going to add a valence and curtains using this fun fabric:
There's still a heck of a lot more than that on my to-do list but these projects will keep me plenty busy for now along with the time I'll be spending trying to get my little vegetable garden going. Thanks so much for all of the gardening tips you guys gave me - they are so, so helpful! I'm hoping to get the rest of the garden prep work done this week and then do some planting this weekend. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

So are any of you like me, leaving half finished projects throughout your house? Which of your rooms are giving you the stink-eye?
