An Amazing Home Office Remodel!

Every now and then I see a space that just stops me in my tracks. One where there are so many beautiful and interesting details that I keep going back through the pictures to soak it all in. My friend Kimberley just remodeled her home office and the space she created absolutely blew me away. I invited (ok...begged) her to share her office remodel on my blog and am so excited to have her guest posting today!

Hello! My name is Kimberley Ellis from Off The Cape. I was thrilled when Kris asked me if I would share my office remodel with you all. Isn't it the ultimate compliment when someone whom you respect, and think the the world of, appreciates something you did? I met Kris through her blog, but I feel like we became long distance friends immediately! Kris is a perfect reflection of her blog. She is warm, inviting and smart! So thank you Kris for letting me share with your readers!
When I began working at home I quickly realized I did not have a space to settle into for 4-6 hours a day that fed my soul. I wanted natural light, a spacious, bright workspace and a room that reflected my online home furnishings business. So with my wonderful husband's help we designed a room to do just that.
I am often asked what my style is, and I am unsure of what to say. I just buy things that make my heart go pitter patter and then I squeeze them into a space. This room is a great example of that.
This chandelier is one of my favorite things. I found the piece (an old aircraft part) in a field in Round Top Texas. It was covered in black grease and dirt, so I soaked it in a tub of bleach for about a week, scrubbed it and kindly asked my husband to wire it as a chandelier. Now I have this heavenly chandelier that gives off beautiful, filtered light.
The chalkboard wall is offset with three sconces that I sell on my website. Two seemed like a bore so I went with three to add a little more interest. It is a fun way to highlight my favorite sayings or scriptures.
An old prairie crib serves as my island. Once used to ward off predators from babies while Mom works in the fields, now it's a beautiful island/gift wrap station with beveled glass. Who would have thought??

The countertops truly make me happy! I stumbled on rolls of old rusty tin in a junk yard and immediately purchased them with counter tops in mind one day. When we started talking about my new office space, I knew this old tin would be my starting point! I sanded down the sheets of tin and applied Bri-Wax to them to create the finish you see here.
In the end, an indoor/outdoor rug in navy and white stripe, sold on Off The Cape, tied everything together. It was the perfect accessory to reflect the natural bead board ceiling and give the room a little bit of a coastal feeling.
The end result is a space that inspires me! I hope you will enjoy it too.
