Our Home Office Remodel Plans

Our kitchen is officially stripped of all wallpaper and painted white (woo-hoo!). I should be sticking around that room to plug away at the long to-do list that's still left but my kitchen and I have had too much togetherness the past few months. So my little kitchen, I'm moving on to another room and I'll circle back around to finish prettying you up a little later. What's my next big project? Our home office! I don't have all the details worked out yet but this where I'm headed:
and this is what I'm starting with:

Yep, I've got my work cut out for me! This room is actually designed to be the family room and that's how we used it for the first few months after moving in last June. It's a pretty small room so the only furniture we could fit in it was a loveseat (the one that's now in the guest room) and one chair. After one too many arguments between our girls about who is in who's space on the loveseat (please tell me this happens at your house too...), I started wondering why the heck we were jostling over space in this little room when we had a huge office down the hall. We had a few more things in the office than the previous owners did in this MLS pic but there was still a lot of unused space:
So we swapped the two rooms, turning the "green room" into the office and the "red room" into our family room which has worked out sooo much better. And I haven't painted, decorated, or done anything at all to either room since we made the switch. But that's all about to change starting with new paint! Buh-bye green, hello Benjamin Moore "Nightfall":
{Benjamin Moore}
This paint color wasn't even on my radar when I shared the black and charcoal gray paint colors I was considering back in January but my friend Lisa recommended it (she used it in her amazing basement makeover {here}) and after getting paint samples of Nightfall and three other blacks/dark grays that I thought might work, Nightfall was the winner. I'm hoping that the contrast of this dark color next to the white built-ins and moldings (especially on this hallway wall which is open to the office) will be stunning!
Most of the furniture in the room be staying but we're getting a new office chair and I'm planning a facelift for the dowdy serpentine chest I've been meaning to paint for ages. I'll fill you in on those details along with some of my plans for accessories later this week!
