Looking back on 2013, one of the highlights of my year was the trip my husband and I took to Los Angeles. It was a favorite because we had two entire days with no agenda, no alarm clock, & no responsibilities. And because I achieved the impossible - finding the perfect pair of jeans :-) As if that wasn't enough to make a girl's day, we stumbled upon a Restoration Hardware Baby & Child store - something that I didn't even know existed outside of the catalog. And let me tell you, the store was gorgeous and chock full of design inspiration.
So if you can forgive the crappy iPhone photos, grab a cup of coffee and let me take you on a tour around RH Baby & Child, sharing some decorating ideas inspired by my visit:
1. Use a large pair (or two!) of angel wings as wall decor in a girl's room. What girl wouldn't love that?
2. For a kids room or nursery, add warmth and texture with a fabulous ceiling treatment:
3. Hang sports balls on the walls of a boy's room using holders such as ball claws. You've created an extra spot to store sports equipment while decorating your little guy's room all at the same time.
4. For the room of your favorite girly girl, hang a set of these amazing framed vintage map dresses or how about framing a couple of her favorite party dresses that she's outgrown?
5. Create a simple DIY draped canopy by attaching two poles to the ceiling with chain or rope and draping fabric or canvas over them:
6. Make a statement with large marquee letters - these RH Baby & Child's illuminated letters are fabulous but to save some $$, you can get much less expensive large metal letters from Hobby Lobby, Pottery Barn, Land of Nod or Etsy. Great idea for a teen's room!:
7. Lighting in a nursery or girl's room doesn't need to be "cutesy":
8. Create a focal wall with a large constellation map or map of the world:
Which of these ideas is your favorite? I'd love to do some type of ceiling treatment (like idea #2) in making over my youngest daughter's room. She and I have totally different taste when it comes to design so this project's sure to be the most challenging (but I'd bet also the most fun) of 2014. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
