I'm not much for New Year's resolutions, but I am all about to-do lists and I've got a heck of a long one started for 2014 home projects. Near the top of the list is a makeover of our home office, which is one of the rooms that we haven't done a thing with since moving in. It definitely needs a few coats of paint (the green wall color we inherited just isn't doing it for me) and ever since I saw this image on Pinterest, I've been tossing around the idea of painting our office walls a chic black or charcoal gray:If there was ever a good room for me to try out a black paint color on the walls, this one is it. One side of the office is entirely open to the hall, another side of it has a wall to wall bookcase, and the third side is mostly taken up by a large window so it's a room with very little wall space and lots of white (bookcases and trim).
So while our small office isn't anywhere near as grand as this living room, it has a similar balance of wall space to white trim that I think looks fabulous with a black wall color:I have white drapes with a black geometric design similar to the one on these cornice boards that I'd love to use in the room: And I'm planning to bring in some gold accents because I'm crushing on the combination of black and gold lately:I'd like to have a gallery wall on the one large wall in the office - black walls are such a beautiful backdrop for art:Now I just need to pick a paint color. Here's a few of the black and charcoal gray colors that I'm thinking about:
Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black:
Sherwin-Williams Peppercorn:
Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze (which has some brown in it):
Benjamin Moore Black Satin:
Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal:
Benjamin Moore Graphite:
So what's your take - would you ever paint a room in your house black or charcoal gray? Do you have any paint colors to recommend? Dish it.
