We all know that the biggest shopping day of the year is coming up this Friday but did you know that there's another great shopping event that comes right on its heels? It's Small Business Saturday on Saturday, November 30th!
And did you know that there's a way to get $10 off your purchase if you pay with your American Express card?? It's a great deal that I found out about last year and wanted to pass on to all of you who aren't aware of it. Here's how it works:
#1. Go to ShopSmall.com and register your American Express cards NOW. If you have more than one American Express card you can register each of your cards. For example, my husband and I both have an AmEx card on a shared account and I also have a Delta AmEx card - I have registered all three cards and will end up getting a total of $30 in statement credits. You cannot register corporate cards or prepaid AmEx cards. The number of registrations is limited so registrations could close early if the registration limit is reached before the 30th. So register your cards now.
#2. Go to the Small Business Saturday map {here} to find out which small businesses near you are qualifying participants in this event. When you get to the map, you can either search by business name or you can search by location by entering your zipcode and clicking on one of the five options (dining, shopping, entertainment, travel, or services) below it.
#3. Use your registered AmEx card(s) to shop at qualifying small businesses on November 30th. When you make a single in-store purchase of $10 or more, you will receive a $10 statement credit. If you have registered four cards and you make a $10 or more purchase with each card, you will end up saving $40. I think that you can even buy $10 gift certificates/cards to use later if you don't want to do your shopping or dining that day (it worked for us last year!).
It's a win-win - we get to save $10 per AmEx card and it drives purchases at hard-working local small businesses across the U.S. And in case you were wondering, this isn't a sponsored post - I'm just sharing a great deal with my design-loving friends!
