Week 6 (The Final Reveal!)

Only one more week to go (yikes!) on the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda at Calling it HomeSo here's where I'm at. I started my makeover of the IKEA TRYSIL chest and round one didn't go so well. I won't relive the wasted hours except for saying that I'm still having Mod Podge nightmares. For round 2, I used 3M's 77 Super Adhesive Spray, which worked much better for adhering my fabric onto the pieces of the chest. I got my first drawer done and I love how it looks but the possibility of an epic failure still looms because I won't know until the end whether all of my fabric-covered pieces are going to fit together like they should....
The drawer is sporting the Home Depot ring pulls that I got in the mail this week. I love them even more than I thought I would from the online pic. At least I'll still have these beauties if the IKEA hack falls into a pile :-)
I've been working on the guest bed pillows and bedding, which are finally coming together. Remember this deliciously nubby fabric that I found on the cheap?
It started a new life as euro shams:
I also found the perfect fabric (Paloma Pewter) at Calico Corners to tie the guest room bedding together and am having it made into a 12 x 30 lumbar pillow.

It's more expensive ($39.99) than what I'm typically willing to pay for fabric so I passed it up the first time that I saw it at Calico Corners. Then earlier this week I happened to stop in the other neighborhood Calico Corners and they had a yard and a half of it on clearance since it was the end of a bolt.  Such luck!

I also picked up two bedside table lamps from HomeGoods but I'm not so sure that the color of the base is right for the room. Would it be a crime to paint new lamps??
After going back and forth about what I should hang over the bed (see {this post} for ideas about decorating over beds), I decided to go with this HomeGoods mirror:
Did you notice the cute photo bomber?!

I also found an end table that I'm hoping will work well as a guest room nightstand. I picked up this Threshold wood and brass beauty in the clearance section at Target and scored it for half off:
By the way, Target had most of their Nate Berkus and Threshold home decor items on clearance for at least 30% off because they're clearing out space for the Christmas decor. Definitely worth a trip to see if there's something you can't live without!

Sooo, the clock is ticking - only seven days left to get the furniture in place, finish up my IKEA chest, refinish my armoire, and hang art on the walls. Umm, Linda can we please have a week 7. Or better yet a week 8? Please?

Check out how all of my fellow bloggers who I'm sure are much better with their time management skills are doing on their rooms {here}.
